Geocache Description:

A gentle stroll in Phoenix Park

Opening on Easter Monday 2013 with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque by Michael D Higgins (President of Ireland) is the new garden walk named the Frail Loop.

The laying out of the walk is one of the best kept secrets of the Office of Public Works in Phoenix Park. Gardeners have spent many years ensuring the aspects of the delicate flowering beds within the trees were developed for mutual survival.

It is a quiet reflective walk with many rare plants protected with in the trees and providing views across the park to the Papal Cross.
A number of classic statues are placed along the walk with the most impressive being Apollo backed by a large fir tree indigenous to Scotland and Ireland. (Pinus Sylvestris Alba)

The tree, while still young, has matured and has a beautiful red flower which appears in early spring. The fir cones grow in great abundance during the summer and are a light papal lemon type colour at their maturity.

Viewed from the papal end at sunset the fir tree takes on a magnificent golden colour reflected onto the Apollo statue and creating a magical stillness as dark descends.

Once you have solved this puzzle you will only have a short distance to go from the walk. It is entirely optional but any pictures you care to upload from your adventure would be appreciated.

Happy Hunting
